Better than expected, given that the man we met is notorious for distrusting outsiders.

Thorne is receiving upgrades for their navy. I've already let Wanda know since our factions share the bay, though I doubt it's cause for concern at the moment.

[ He shares with Claude now because they are friends and he had promised to. And Claude is discreet enough not to spread this to others. ]

[ Interesting. There's a pause while he absorbs that information about the navy - and upgrades to it, but said pause doesn't last long. More details to be learned from there, after all, especially in Kyle having already let Wanda know this, too. ]

I'd say that's definitely quite the return on what was offered, especially with the distrust factored in. Charis used to reside in the Free Cities some time ago so we had that working slightly in our favor, I think.

Am I right in assuming there was something else offered besides the naval efforts alone?

[ He's not surprised Claude asks what else they might've bargained for - he expected some surprise and pushback when he and Rhy made their decision, since it would appear to go against their previous discussions. ]

There was. We weren't given many details. Only that whatever it was potentially had connection with the Singularity.

We decided securing it for Thorne posed the greater risk.

A smart move to pick what was the less dangerous offering then.

[ That's a simple choice now that he knows what the other option was. It'd be difficult to find fault with anyone - not that he was looking for it in the first place, really. ]

Given what I know of Thorne and the Singularity from those of you there, I wouldn't want to give them anything even with the slightest chance.

Ours was between blacksmithing options and soil which might help the fields. We went with the latter in case it would've aided the military somehow. But had the soil been something else far riskier, blacksmithing would've made its way back to Portam Hall.

I would've chosen to do the same.

Is it too much to hope that the rest of this trip goes without any major hitch?

I don't think so. Some part of me is still waiting for what happened at Nocwich to happen again.

[ And hopefully it doesn't for more reasons than one, the two of them being delegates set aside for a second. It's a flippant comment, mostly, rather than anything serious.

But - probably not the best to joke about. Tempting fate and all that. ]

More importantly, I can only hope no word gets back to Thorne, the Free Cities, or Solvunn about what's taken place here before we can make it back to tell them ourselves. And also that whatever aid we provide here is successful for both the Draconae's sake and ours.
